Presentation

Within the framework of the “Week of Digital Technologies and Intelligent Systems,” the Chilean Conference on Computing and the Ibero-American Conference on Human–Computer Interaction are held, together with specialized workshops open to the community.

The Collaborative Network to Support Teaching-Learning Processes in the Area of Human-Computer Interaction at the Ibero-American Level (HCI-COLLAB), within the framework of the 12th Ibero-American Conference on Human-Computer Interaction (12JIHC´26), is pleased to invite the academic, scientific, and professional communities to participate in this event and submit articles under the thematic axis: “Contextual Adaptability: The User as the Core of Interactive and Intelligent Software.”

In the current convergence between software and Artificial Intelligence (AI), the user’s context has become a critical variable in the design of meaningful experiences. Functional interfaces are no longer sufficient; today, software is required to be capable of perceiving, interpreting, and dynamically adapting to people’s environments, cognitive states, and situational preferences. The 12JIHC’26 will provide a forum to explore how AI enables the capture and processing of this rich contextual information in order to create hyper-personalized systems that not only react to commands but also proactively anticipate user intentions. The conference seeks to analyze the development of interactive software that understands “who, where, and when” interactions take place, ensuring accurate and ethical responses that respect privacy and enhance human capabilities in complex scenarios.

In addition to the main theme of 12JIHC´26, the event’s areas of interest include, but are not limited to:

1

Accessibility, ease of use, and sustainability

It also offers a space to debate the challenges and opportunities that this technological revolution poses in the Ibero-American context. It will not only facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experiences but also promote the creation of collaborative networks among different countries, thus fostering the development of future research alliances and technological projects.

Article Submission

Researchers, professionals, and students are invited to submit long papers (only in English) for the main session, and long or short papers (only in English) for Workshops. Submissions must follow the general guidelines below:

  • Originality: Papers must be original work, not previously published or under review elsewhere.
  • Thematic Relevance: Priority is given to work addressing problems or developments in HCI in the context of emerging technologies, especially artificial intelligence. Related research in areas such as accessibility, interface design, multimodal interaction, UX/usability, AI ethics, or AR/VR is also welcome.
  • Methodological Rigor: Papers must demonstrate sound scientific methods, whether through experimental design, systematic literature review, or innovative prototype development.
  • Contribution: Submissions should demonstrate a clear contribution to the state of the art in HCI.

Long Papers presenting significant research results, case studies, or well-founded discussions that provide new evidence on HCI.

Short articles presenting preliminary results, case studies, or discussions that provide evidence on HCI applications:

Note: At least one author of each accepted paper must register and present at a technical session.

đź’ˇ Important Clarification: Abstracts vs. Full Papers Submissions*

We want to clarify our submission process for all authors:

  • Abstract submission is OPTIONAL: It is designed to help the committee organize the review process early, but it is not a mandatory prerequisite. You can submit your Full Paper directly before the final deadline.
  • Abstracts are flexible: If you choose to submit an early abstract, you can modify the title, abstract text, and author list freely up until the Full Paper submission deadline.

Review Process

The articles will be evaluated through a double-blind peer review process conducted by an international committee of experts in Human-Computer Interaction and related areas. Each paper will have a minimum of three independent reviewers to ensure impartiality. In the event of significant discrepancies between evaluations, a senior member of the scientific committee will perform a meta-review to issue a final decision, ensuring a fair assessment based on methodological consistency and the relevance of the paper.

If the paper is accepted, the authors will receive a detailed report with the reviewers' comments, and it will be mandatory to incorporate the suggestions to improve the final version. Compliance with these modifications will be verified by the committee before publication in the conference proceedings or submission to related journals. This rigorous review process aims to maintain the scientific quality of the event and promote the advancement of knowledge in human-computer interaction, especially in the context of emerging technologies and artificial intelligence.

Additionally, some authors of both long and short papers may be invited to present extended versions of their works for possible publication in specialized indexed journals focused on Research and Technological Development. This invitation will be based on thematic relevance and the impact of contributions, allowing authors to submit their research to recognized journals noted for their rigor and focus on human-computer interaction and artificial intelligence. The aim is to promote the dissemination of innovative results on high-impact platforms and strengthen the dialogue between academia and industry.
