Digital games — specifically video games — are among the most important interactive systems and were some of the first environments in which new interaction techniques and devices have been researched and applied. A video game is an interactive application oriented toward entertainment that, through certain controls or interfaces, allows the simulation of experiences on a television, computer, or other electronic device. Therefore, their development and investigation constitute a field of great relevance and current importance for the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) research community.

There are many contexts — such as education, health, and entertainment — where video games and gamification are used to achieve specific goals. However, it is unclear whether these applications have been developed using appropriate methodologies and tools under quality control that ensures that such goals are actually met. Understanding the new methodologies or processes used in this area is necessary.

This workshop is an opportunity for researchers to present their work in an Ibero-American context. In addition to facilitating the exchange of experiences, this workshop will broaden networks among different countries and foster the establishment of future research collaborations. Therefore, we invite the entire scientific community — both national and international — to participate in this event.

The main objectives of the 6th Workshop on Interaction in Digital Games and Gamification are to:

  • Promote and foster multidisciplinary collaboration, the exchange of ideas, and the sharing of experiences among specialists from different areas such as computing, artificial intelligence, human–technology interaction, interactive experience design, and more.
  • Disseminate and present recent research results and technological advances in the field of video games, gameplay experiences, and gamification, including applications in education, health, entertainment, and other areas.
  • Explore new technological trends and address emerging topics.
  • Establish collaborative links between professionals, academia, industry, and/or government.
  • Consolidate the work carried out in previous editions of the workshop.
